Bhubaneswar: As the world reels under the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, an Odia ayurvedic doctor based in New Delhi claims to have developed a medicine which can fight the new and more infectious strain of the virus.
Dr Surendra Nath Sharma, who has developed the medicine-Anticov using various medicinal herbs, claimed that the drug has received approval from the government of India.
“The medicine has gained world-wide popularity and cured over 19 lakh people across the globe. While many claim the sudden surge in the Covid19 cases as the second wave, but for Ayurveda there is no second wave. it is the same first wave which is yet to be controlled,” said Sharma.
“After getting approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), we have started production of Anticov. Prior to that, we had conducted clinical trial of the drug in India and the US as well. The ingredients of the medicine include- chireita, kalmegh, turmeric, cinnamon and some other compounds.” Sharma added.
Sharma said that further research and development on the new drug would be possible if the government accords sufficient importance to the medicine and help popularise the product.
It may be recalled that last year, Patanjali had launched Coronil an Ayurvedic medicine by claiming the drug helps boost immunity which is necessary to fight the infection.
