Cuttack: The process for conduct of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) elections for the appointment of electoral officers has begun and is expected to be completed by October 20, informed OCA working committee chairman Dhiren Pallai today.
The elections will be held for six major posts of OCA including the president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and one council member.
Informing about the development, Pallai said, "The election will be held by October 20. All the 73 affiliated bodies have been asked to recommend names for the positions. And the deadline for the same will be September 12 till 4PM."
It is pertinent to mention here that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier fixed July as the deadline for completion of the necessary formalities for appointment of the electoral officers; however the entire process in Odisha was delayed owing to a dispute between two groups within the association. A major controversy erupted soon after BCCI asked OCA to frame fresh constitution by dropping several clubs, schools and colleges which have voting rights.
