Anandpur: In response to the written submission of 10 councillors seeking a no-confidence motion against the vice chairperson of Anandpur Notified Area Council (NAC), the Keonjhar district collector has asked the Anandpur sub-collector to conduct the no-confidence motion after a thorough probe into the matter.
It may be mentioned that 10 councillors—Suresh Sahu (Independent), Nilamani Das (BJD), Rashmita Sahu (Congress), Susamarani Rana (Independent), Biswabhusan Mallick (BJD), Jharanarani Sahu (Congress), Atul Chandra Behera (BJD), Dushasan Nayak (Independent), Subhadra Dehuri (BJD) and Ashutosh Puhana (Congress)—had submitted a written complaint to district collector N Thirumala Naik on February 19 this year seeking to move a no-confidence motion against the vice chairperson Sandhyarani Behera.
They had alleged that due to the highhandedness of the vice chairperson, there had been no developmental work in the areas coming under Anandpur NAC.
The collector, after hearing the complaint of these councillors, directed the Anandupur sub collector Maheswar Swain to probe the veracity of the allegations and conduct the no-confidence motion on March 18.
Talking to OTV, Suresh Sahu, Independent councillor of ward no-14, said prior to the complaint lodged with the present collector, they had taken up the issue with the then collector one and a half years ago.
“The vice chairperson has not allowed any official to continue in office for long. As a result. there has been no developmental work in the area. She is also threatening all officials and councillors while taking the name of a minister, who, she says, is very close to her. She is also threatening NAC staffs to transfer them if they do not obey her orders. Due to her adamant attitude, the NAC is now defunct,” he added.
The Anandpur NAC has 16 councillors of which six councillors are from BJD, three from Congress and seven from Independent.
