Bhubaneswar: Residents in Odisha continue to reel under bone-chilling cold with 16 places in the State recording temperatures below 10 degree Celsius on Monday.

Sonepur recorded the lowest temperature with mercury dropping to 5.4 degree Celsius in the town followed by Angul at 5.6 deg Celsius, Phulbani 6.3, Titlagarh 6.5, Daringbadi 7 and Keonjhar 7.4 deg Celsius.

Other places which recorded temperature below 10 degree Celsius are Bolangir (8.5), Balasore (8.5), Sundergarh (8.5), Sambalpur (8.7), Jharsuguda (8.9), Bhawanipatna (9), Koraput (9.2), Baripada (9.4), Talcher (9.4) and Cuttack (9.5).

The capital city Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6 degree Celsius today.

The regional meteorological centre has informed that cold wave condition is likely to continue in the State till January 1 after which there is possibility of moderate spell of rain for two days.

The IMD on Sunday issued cold wave yellow warning to as many as 13 districts of Odisha.

On January 1, Bargarh, Nuapada, Jhursuguda, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Deogarh districts will experience thunderstorm and moderate rain. Dry weather will prevail over the remaining districts. Similarly, moderate rain is likely to occur in some places of north Odisha and one or two places of south Odisha on January 2.

Due to rain, there will be slight rise in the minimum temperature.
