Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of Southeast Bay of Bengal which has now become well marked and is likely to concentrate into a depression today, will have no impact on Odisha. There is no weather warning for the State associated with the system, said Regional Meteorological Centre (IMD) in Bhubaneswar.
"The well marked low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression today. It is expected to move towards west-northwestwards and reach over south Tamil Nadu coast around December 2. The system will have no impact on Odisha ," informed Uma Shankar Das, weather expert at the Bhubaneswar Met Centre.
"Dry weather is most likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha till December 4," said the Met Centre in its evening bulletin yesterday.
Minimum temperature (night temperature) is expected to fall by two to three degree Celsius at a few places during the next 48 hours. However, there is no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha, added the Met Centre.
Under the influence of the system, scattered to widespread rainfall activity is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Rayalaseema between December 1 and 3.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and isolated extremely rainfall likely over south Tamil Nadu and south Kerala on December 2, the weather office said.
Heavy rainfall with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is also very likely to occur over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema and Lakshadweep area during December 2-3.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea on November 29 and central parts of South Bay of Bengal on November 30.
