Bhubaneswar: Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered a probe by the crime branch into the killing of BJD MLA Jagabandhu Majhi by unidentified gunmen in Nawrangpur district.

Condemning the killing of Majhi as "brutal and savage," the chief minister said the MLA was disabled and had been confined to a wheel chair.

Majhi, a prominent tribal leader, was shot dead in Gona village while distributing pattas.

The crime branch of police has been asked to investigate the killing of Majhi and his personal security officer P K Patro, he said.
