Cuttack: With two more patients admitted to hospital with diarrhoea on Monday, the water-borne disease continued to take more people into its fold at Baselihata in Narsinghpur taking the number of affected people to 252.

The medical experts attribute the outbreak to intake of contaminated drinking water. The villagers complain that the water pipelines have been broken as a result of which impure and unsafe water have mixed with the drinking water.

In view of medical emergency, anganwadi and ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers have been pressed into service to help the distressed people out. The activists are distributing medicines and halogen tablets used for water treatment.

However, some complain that the government supply medicines are ineffective to the infection.

Medical team dispatched to the affected is discharging their duties in the affected villages.

Meanwhile, the district health department has informed that the medical experts’ team will be camping in the region until the outbreak is brought under control.
