Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Ltd today advised Odisha based ancillary industries to take advantage of the Nalco metal as it will benefit them with lesser transportation cost, VAT credit and timely delivery.

This was stated by Nalco`s CMD B L Bagra while addressing a meeting of the Plant Level Advisory Committee here. "In context of globalization it is evident that the MSME units should lay more emphasis in maintaining quality, cost competitiveness and technological up-gradations," Bagra said.

Speaking on the occasion, Bagra said that the spirit of entrepreneurship must be infused among young individuals of the state. He also urged the present MSME-entrepreneurs to come up with quality sustainable business ideas. During the meeting, presentations were made by the Nalco representatives explaining the methodology of placement of orders, pricing and payment system. The items identified for purchases from MSMEs/Ancillary Units were also detailed out.

Nalco has already given Ancillary status to 52 units. "In the year 2011-12, the company had placed orders worth Rs 124.84 crore on MSMEs/ Ancillary units," an official said. More than 80 participants including PLAC members, representatives from state owned financial agencies, Directorate of Industries along with representatives of Odisha Small Scale Industries Association, Odisha Young Entrepreneurs Association, Odisha Assembly of Small & Medium Enterprises, Utkal Chambers of Commerce and Odisha Industries Federation were present on the occasion.
