Bhubaneswar: In a bid to facilitate the motorists as well as ease off the load at Regional Transport Offices (RTO) across the State, Odisha government has decided to set up temporary camps at block and sub-divisional levels to issue learner’s licence and Pollution under Control (PUC) certificates to the vehicle owners.
Informing about the development, State Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera today stated that the temporary camps will issue learner’s licence initially while other services will also be made available at such centres.
The main objective behind this is to facilitate people in obtaining necessary documents so that they can comply with the new traffic rules under the amended Motor Vehicles Act 2019. Though the new traffic rules came into effect on September 1, the State government announced relaxation of document checking for a period of three months following massive public resentment over collection of hefty fines.
During the initial days of implementation of MV Act, it was found that most of the people lacked important documents like driving licence, PUC certificate, insurance which is why the government relaxed the norms for the vehicle owners to get such crucial documents ready before the enforcement drive is again launched after three months.
