Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Friday recovered three more firearms and 170 rounds of live ammunition following a search at the residence of gangster brothers- Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta at CDA in Cuttack.
Twin City Police Commissioner, Sudhanshu Sarangi informed that both the gangster brothers are now on a three-day remand and their residence was searched today. All the weapons were reportedly hidden in some secret chambers in the interiors of their residence, sources said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the police had earlier recovered eight guns, 16 magazines, over 1000 live ammo from the residence of the D-brothers on December 10. All the weapons were found stashed in interior chambers of their house.
The cops claimed breakthrough after arresting an arms dealer Prakash Behera. During interrogation, Prakash revealed to have supplied firearms to one Saroj Sethi who then confessed to have smuggled a lot of arms to the gangster brothers before their arrest in 2016.
Later, the Commissionerate Police had launched a massive crackdown on D-brothers link in different parts of the city. While 16 weapons, 1095 live ammunitions were recovered, eight persons were arrested in the special drive launched by the police.
The Cuttack JMFC Court on Thursday allowed Commissionerate Police to take gangster Dhalasamanta brothers on a 3-day remand for interrogation in connection with the seizure of a massive haul of arms & ammunition from their residence in the city.
