Berhampur: Even as the marathon interrogation of former Congress MLA of Sanakhemundi Ramesh Jena is underway, police on Thursday raided his house at Gambhariguda village under Patapur police station limits in Ganjam district and seized two revolvers and some incriminating documents.
This was informed by the IG, Southern Range, Amitabh Thakur in a joint press meet with Berhampur SP Sarthak Sarangi here on Thursday.
He said Jena has 12 cases pending in his name at various police stations in Ganjam police district and 13 cases in Berhampur police district.
Thakur also requested the people to provide any information pertaining to the criminal activities of Jena.
“If anyone has any complaint against Jena, he/she can lodge a complaint with the police without fear. If necessary, police will again take him on remand,” he added.
Notably, the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) Berhampur on Wednesday had allowed Berhampur police to take Jena on a five-day remand.
Talking about the modus operandi of Jena, the Berhampur SP said the police had come to know about his involvement in murder, thrashing and maiming people, tender fixing, forcible possession and purchase of private land by threatening people, gutkha trade, country liquor trade and transport business.
“This apart, Jena was personally monitoring gun peddlers in Berhampur. We have seized 25-30 bank accounts belonging to him. Investigation is on about the investment of his money in other businesses,” Sarangi said.
He also said that the police also suspects Jena has links with the Dhalasamant brothers.
