Maoists Kill Contractor in Rayagada District

Rayagada: Armed Maoists today killed a contractor in Sikarpie village of Rayagada district, police said.

Gopal Chetty Gandhi (40), also an advocate, received two gun shots on his chest after which the ultras, belonging to the Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali Division of the outfit, used knives to stab him this morning, police said.

A writing found near his body said, "You swallowed money of tribals. So we killed you." It was written by one Umakant, secretary of the divisional committee, police said.

Police recovered three catridges from the spot.

Combing operation has been launched in the area to track down the killers.
