Deogarh: Utkal Gramya Bank Loot Bid Foiled

Deogarh: An attempt to loot the Utkal Gramya Bank’s Balam branch in Deogarh district was foiled late last night.

The robbers entered the bank by breaking open the locks of main door between 2 AM to 3 AM. Later, when they tried to enter the strong room of the bank, the siren installed inside went off and the miscreants fled the spot, said some locals.

Sources said, around Rs 13 lakh was stored inside the strong room of the bank yesterday.

They also damaged the CCTV cameras installed on the bank premises in a bid to destroy the evidences before fleeing the spot.

Meanwhile, a team of police officials have reached the bank and started an investigation in connection with the matter.
