Bhubaneswar: Heat wave is likely to sweep most parts of Odisha for next few days amid spells of thunderstorm and lighting activities, as per the forecast of the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The Met office has predicted that mercury is likely to be above normal in interior and western Odisha including districts of Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur and Bargarh, while hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in coastal parts of the State for next few days.
The Met office has also predicted that there is a likelihood of thunderstorm activity in parts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam and Gajapati districts during the time. Wind speed during thunderstorms is likely to be around 30 to 40 kmph.
In view of the thunderstorm activity, the Met department has issued alert for south and north coastal districts of the State.
