Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha saw a dip in mercury with at least five places in the state recording below 11 degrees Celsius. Sonepur was the coldest in the State recording its lowest night temperature of 9.2 degree Celsius, the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department informed Tuesday.
As per the weather department, the dip in temperature continues in the State under the impact of dry northerly and north-westerly winds heading towards Odisha.
While the mercury stood at 9.5 degrees Celsius in the tourist town of Daringibadi, it slipped to 9.8 degrees Celsius in Phulbani. Similarly, Koraput and Angul recorded 10.6 degrees Celsius and 10.8 degrees Celsius respectively, the meteorological centre informed.
The mercury stood at 11 degrees Celsius in Bhawanipatna. The minimum temperature at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar was 16.4 and 17.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
The temperature is unlikely to vary much in the next two to three days. After that, temperature would rise by 2-3 degrees and then gradually fall,” said Duty Officer of Bhubaneswar Met Centre, Madan Mohan Das.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at one or two places in the districts of coastal Odisha between November 11 and 13.
