Odisha: The mortal remains of Assam Rifles jawan, Champeswar Mahakud, who was killed by terrorists in Manipur, arrived in Bhubaneswar today.

Champeswar, a resident of Dhaurakhaman village under Rairakhol block of Sambalpur district, was killed in a counter-insurgency operation against terrorists in Manipur on September 7, 2018.

The martyr was given a guard of honour at Bhubaneswar airport where senior CRPF and 120 Infantry Battalion officers paid their tributes.

“Champeswar fought valiantly in the ambuscade against the terrorists and died for his county,” said GL Meena, DIG (admin), CRPF.

The body was later taken to his ancestral village for cremation.
