Berhampur: A man and his wife sustained critical burn injuries after they allegedly attempted suicide over some family dispute at Korabanka colony under Gunupur area of Rayagada district on Sunday.
The couple identified as Nagesh Sabar and Manashi Sabar was rescued by some locals who admitted them to Gunupur Sub-Divisional Hospital in a critical condition.
Later, Manashi was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after her condition deteriorated.
Sources said an altercation ensued between the couple over some issue in the morning. However, the situation turned worse when both set themselves on fire after pouring kerosene.
On being informed police rushed to the spot and started investigation in connection with the incident.
