Malkangiri: Security forces busted a major hideout of Maoists insurgents and seized huge quantity of arms, ammunition and other articles in Swabhiman Anchal (cut-off area) of Malkangiri district.
The camp was busted during a joint operation launched by the Odisha Police, BSF and Andhra Pradesh Police on specific intelligence inputs.
Two SLRs, one .303 rifle, one IED, nine 7.62 SLR rounds, magazines and other documents were seized from the camp.
The police suspect the arms and ammunitions belonged to the Maoists cadres of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).
“This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national designs of the Maoists in this area. We are suspecting that these arms and ammunitions belonged to the Maoists cadres of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities,” stated a release issued by the Malkangiri police.
Further combing and search operations are going on in the area.
