Man arrested for assaulting lady constable, her sister in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Police have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a lady constable and her sister in Ainthapalli area of Sambalpur.

As per reports, the accused identified as Sapan Chakraborty, physically assaulted the sisters Rashmirekha Dixit (lady constable) and her younger sister Gitirekha Dixit.

Following the assault, both the sisters were admitted in the hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

While Rashmirekha sustained severe injury, Gitirekha was hit on her head during the violent attack, sources said.

"When his relatives came during Viswakarma puja, he blamed my sister of misbehaving with his uncle. We were not aware of what he was saying. We didn't say anything to his relatives. He was probably on some drugs as he behaved weirdly. He didn't listen to us and started physically assaulting us," Gitirekha alleged.

While police have arrested the accused, an investigation is currently underway.
