Cuttack/ Bhubaneswar: Glowing tributes have been paid to Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das on his 165th birth Anniversary today. The grave of the modern architect of Odisha at Gorakabar in Cuttack was garlanded by the members of Utkal Sammilani this morning. The members later garlanded the statues of the legend across the city. Cuttack Union Club also celebrated the great day today on the club premises.
 
Similarly, the students of Sailabala Women’s College also celebrated the great man’s birth anniversary. The students and college staffs remembered Madhu Babu after garlanding his statue on the college premises. The residence of Madhu babu was later donated by his daughter Sailabala for an educational institute and after her name it was named as Sailabala College, sources said.
Various competitions and functions have been organized at different places in the town to commemorate the contribution of Madhu Babu to the State.
 
The ‘Madhu Jayanti’ has also been observed in the capital city by various political parties. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat paid tribute to the first law graduate of Odisha. The chief Minister appealed to the people of Odisha to follow the foot print of Madhu Babu on this occasion.
 
Similarly, BJP State president KV Singhdeo, senior leader Biswabhusan Harichandan and other party leaders garlanded the statue of Utkal Gourav near the Raj Bhawan. Singhdeo said that his party will reach the people with the message of Madhusudan Das.
