Bhubaneswar: In the wake of 14-day lockdown in Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur districts and Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC), the Odisha government has asked all the banks in the concerned places to reschedule their working hours.
In an order issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) yesterday, all banks under the four districts and RMC have been directed to reschedule their working timings to morning hours. While the banks will operate from 8 AM to 2 PM, the customer service hours have been rescheduled between 8 AM and 1 PM with immediate effect from today till July 31.
Similarly, the SRC has also ordered the banks to operate with 50 per cent of their staff strength to avoid heavy rush in the bank premises and ensure proper physical distancing.
The banks have been asked to operate with 50 per cent of staff instead of 25 per cent as directed earlier in order to provide smooth services to the customers.
"The banks will operate with not more than 50 per cent of their manpower and strictly follow the norms of physical distancing," read the order.
The district administration and local police will provide the required support to the banks to ensure proper physical distancing, where required, added the SRC.
Worth mentioning, the Odisha government imposed the 14-day lockdown in four districts- Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack and Jajpur and entire Rourkela Municipal Corporation area of Sundergarh district from 9 PM of July 17 till July 31 midnight in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the regions.
