Angul: Palpable tension prevailed in Angul town area today after locals staged a road blockade demanding action against the persons involved in the alleged murder of a minor girl.
The agitators that also included political outfits staged protest demanding justice for the family of the deceased. Following the agitation, senior police officials reached the spot and assured an impartial probe into the death of the girl.
Earlier yesterday, a minor girl was found dead and the family members alleged that she was raped and murdered by one Anama Dehuri of the same village. Anama is absconding and police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
“Three police teams have been constituted to probe the matter. Raids are being conducted to nab the accused. Besides, technical and scientific officials have collected physical evidence from the spot. As long as autopsy is not carried out, it is difficult to reach to any conclusion. We are investigating all the aspects,” said Mitrabhanu Mohapatra, Angul SP.
