Bhubaneswar: A lioness aged 15 died in Nandankanan Zoological park of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

As per reports, the lioness named ‘Supriya’ was unwell for the last few days and she breathed her last at around 9 am today. Zoo authorities mentioned that Supriya was born in 2005.

The death of the lioness has come as a shock for the wildlife lovers. On August 28, a yellow Anaconda had died in the zoo.

The Nandankanan Zoo will open for visitors from October 4 after remaining shut for nearly seven months. This will be implemented in a restricted manner with all COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing norms in place. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Hari Shankar Upadhyay informed that the botanical garden inside the zoo will also open on the same date.
