Lady Cop In Odisha Suspended For Demanding Bribe

Khurda: A Lady Sub-Inspector (SI) of Begunia Police Station in Khurda, Sujata Palei was suspended today on charges of demanding bribe from the mother of an accused.

As per reports, there was a complaint two days back that some people tied two youths to a pole and thrashed them for allegedly passing lewd comments to a girl.

Subsequently, the accused were rescued by police, but later an audio clip purportedly of a conversation between SI Sujata Palei and mother of the accused went viral.

In the audio, Palei can be heard threatening to register case against the accused if she was not paid a particular amount.

"This is a police case. You didn't pay me the amount, you have no commitment," Palei can be heard saying in the video.
