Bhubaneswar: Kanha, the five-year-old boy from Ganjam district suffering from a rare skin syndrome underwent his first recuperative surgery at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital today.
A team of 12 doctors including the Head of the Department (HOD) of Plastic Surgery, Superintendent and Dean of the MKCG conducted the preliminary laser and skin grafting surgery to cure the boy who has been facing excess hair and flesh growth on his body- a disorder called the ‘Werewolf Syndrome’.
Born to Mamata and Ramachandra Naik of Gayaganda village under Jagannath Prasad block in Ganjam, Kanha has been suffering from the congenital skin disorder several months now. The plight of the boy came to light following a telecast on OTV.
Kanha’s father said he along with his family members were optimistic about Kanha's recovery and look forward to a complete cure from the disease.

In the first phase of the surgery, the excess flab of flesh present on his face will be removed through surgery and subsequent surgeries will be conducted only after observing the boy’s response to the treatment and his health condition, informed sources.
