Jay Panda’s political secretary Jyoti Prakash Ghose has attempted to bring some of the ups and downs, unseen and untold chapters in the political journey of the upfront former Parliamentarian from Kendrapara through a book.

The book in Odia, ‘Baijayanta nka saha kichi barsha (Some Years With Baijayant)’ is no less than an encyclopedia for the political enthusiasts as it covers Jay Panda’s political journey after his return from engineering in abroad to joining politics in 2000 to his elevation as BJP National Vice-President.

Jyoti Prakash Ghose, who assumed charge as Panda’s political secretary in 2003, has aptly tried to capture most details of the string of events in his career and significant milestones he was associated with in this two-decade-long political history of Odisha.

In the 28-chapter long book, Ghose has presented behind the story of Jay Panda’s political journey including his election as Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha member. Be it various developmental works or addressing people’s grievances through postcards or encouraging sportspersons, one will get a glimpse of Jay Panda’s legacy and agility of taking up the problems of the common man in the book.

Known as one of the most outspoken leaders having developmental ideologies, Jay Panda's ruthless demeanour against corruption has also been portrayed in the book. From conspiracy against him to the unique informal public tea meetings Heijau, the book also pictures his weakness for helicopters apart from his relationship with western Odisha and love for his birthplace at Madhuban and beyond.

Besides, one will get an insight into how the former Parliamentarian had to face egg attack out of jealousy over the series of drinking water projects and conspiracy against him.

The 120-page book also contains vivid scenes from 2009 and 2019 general elections and some unknown and unseen facts about the former parliamentarian who still is deeply connected with the masses from his constituency.

However, the author feels that Panda's eventful political journey is still incomplete in the book.

"The lockdown gave ample time and I could finish the book in 48 days. I hope that the younger generation who look up to Jay Panda as an inspiration will love this book. I have tried to pen whatever I felt and experienced with him but it is not a political piece of literary work," narrates Ghose.

Several literary critics, readers are also eager to look into the life and journey of the senior leader in more sequels of this book.

Senior journalist Rajaram Satpathy says everyone knows Jay Panda's close relationship with Naveen Patnaik but he was ousted from BJD. The author of the book has not mentioned anything interesting in this aspect. So we hope that Jyoti Prakash Ghose might also open up on some more unseen facts in the upcoming book.

Praising Ghose for coming out with this book, Professor Vivekanand Panigrahy has also expressed his eagerness for the same.
