Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Jugal Kishore Mohapatra has been promoted to the Chief Secretary rank with the designation of Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary on Thursday.

As the Development Commissioner, Mohapatra would also be supervising many other developmental departments in addition to acting as Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning & Coordination departments.

Mohapatra is 1979-batch IAS officer. From the same batch, Senior IAS officer Niranjan Sanyal has also been promoted to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary. Sanyal is on deputation to the Union Government.
