Bhubaneswar: A four-member team of doctors from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) at Puducherry is monitoring the health condition of eminent litterateur Manoj Das who has been under treatment for last three months due to old-age related ailments.
Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Saturday informed that Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan has made all arrangements for medical assistance to the noted writer from Odisha.
In a tweet, Sarangi stated that he had requested the Union Health Minister to provide special medical aid to Das for his better treatment. On his request, Harshvardhan has sent the special doctors’ team from JIPMER, who has decided the line of treatment, Sarangi added.
The Union Health Minister has also assured that the team of doctors will take all possible care of the eminent author.
Manoj Das, a Padma Bhushan awardee, has been battling against old-age related complications with a fractured hand. He is being treated at Ari Aurobindo Ashram Nursing Home in Puducherry.
An iconic writer of modern Odisha, Das has carved a niche for himself in the field of literature over the past several decades. He has written many short stories, novels and poems which have been highly appreciated by readers across the world. He has also edited some magazines during his career.
He was honoured with the prestigious civilian award, Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Bhusan this year for his pioneering work in literature.
