Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the massive destruction caused by the extremely severe cyclone Fani, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged the Centre to extend the registration dates of Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced by at least 10 days.
In a letter to Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, CM Naveen stated, “As you are aware, the extremely severe cyclone FANI had hit Odisha on 3rd May, which disrupted mobile and data connectivity in many districts. Due to non-availability of the Internet at many locations in Odisha after Fani, the brilliant Odia students have not been able to register their names online for the examination.”
The letter further read: “In view of the disruption caused by FANI cyclone, it is necessary to extend the registration date by at least 10 days.”
The online registration process for JEE Advanced has already begun from May 3 and will continue till May 9. The JEE 2019 Advanced Examination is scheduled to take place on May 27. This year, the examination will be conducted by IIT Roorkee.
JEE Advanced Exam is conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses in IITs. Students, who have qualified 2019 JEE Mains, are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced.
Earlier, NEET exam scheduled to be held on May 5 in Odisha was postponed as per the request of Odisha government due to the ongoing relief and rehabilitation work following the destruction caused by Cyclone Fani.
