Bhubaneswar: A day after a sub committee was constituted to review three most contentious issues in the Supreme Court-suggested reforms for the Srimandir in Puri, members of 'Jagannath sanskruti sangathan' on Sunday demanded publication of the 'Brahma Paribartan' fiasco probe report soon.
Members of the Jagannath culture outfit, who started a padayatra from Puri on Saturday, reached Bhubaneswar today annd marched towards Naveen Niwas, holding placards and banners banners as mark of protest. However, police stopped them near Sishu Bhavan square.
Later, they had a discussion with Law Minister Pratap Jena but the meeting was inconclusive.
"It's unfortunate that we could not meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Our memorandum on such a sensitive issue connected with Lord Jagannath was also not accepted says Members of the Jagannath culture outfit. The meeting with the Law Minister was also not fruitful as he did not have satisfactory explanation on exactly when they are going to publicise the Brahma Paribartan fiasco report. This apart, the minister also could not say as to what would be the State government's stand in the Supreme Court in connection with the Srimandir reforms issue," said a member of the outfit.
Earlier on Saturday, during a meeting of the Sri Jagannath temple managing committee, it was decided that the Brahma Paribartan report would be made public by the probe team by September.
In the meeting, it was also decided that out of the 12 proposals suggested by the apex court as a part of disciplinary reforms in the 12th century shrine, three major issues- proposals of abolition of hereditary appointment of servitors, prohibition of collection of money for Annadan Atika by servitors and proposals for amendment to Shri Jagannath Temple Act, 1954- will be reviewed by a special sub-committee led by Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb.
