Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, the Indian Railways have now made mandatory catering facilities for passengers of Rajdhani Express an optional exercise. As a result, the prices of tickets are expected to come down as catering charges will not be added to the price of tickets.
This facility of optional catering will be available for passengers booking their tickets from September 1, 2019, East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a statement.
Earlier, the optional catering facility was implemented in Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express and Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Duronto Express.
Ministry of Railways has already taken steps to make catering an optional service in important trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Gatiman, Vande Bharat type trains.
Official sources informed that passengers will now have the option of indicating their preference of availing catering facilities or not at the time of booking their tickets. Once indicated, the passengers cannot opt out their preferences.
With the introduction of the optional catering facilities, the passengers of Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express can arrange their own food during the journey.
