Konark: The state vigilance department has lodged two complaints at the Nimapara police station in connection with the inspector Bimal Nayak escape case. While one FIR was lodged against the police inspector serving as the inspector-in-charge of Nimapara police station, the other FIR was filed against the public who helped Bimal Nayak run away from the police station on Friday.

The DSP of the Puri District Police Office Niranjan Patra who has been handed over the investigation today reached Nimapara and started inquiry into the incident. Inspector Bimal Nayak remained untraceable even about two days after the mysterious incident.

Bimal Nayak was reportedly caught red handed by vigilance sleuths while taking bribe to the tune of Rs 500 from one Sanjaya Mohapatra. Later the vigilance police had seized cash worth about Rs 15,000 and some amount of gold ornaments from his quarter. Nearly 60 local persons suddenly reached the Nimapara police station where the vigilance sleuths were interrogating Bimal and started heckling the vigilance staff. The crowd dragged Bimal Nayak out from the police station and made easy his flee away. The vigilance personnel complained that the crowd snatched away the cash and gold seized from Bimal Nayak`s possession and his house.
