Bhubaneswar: The global consulting and IT services company, Infosys extended a helping to the people of Puri who were severely affected in the severe cyclonic storm Fani.
The CSR wing of Infosys Foundation, along with Infosys Bhubaneswar Development Centre carried out a philanthropic drive and accordingly planned from materials required, procurement to execution of the relief operation with more than 200 volunteers working on weekends and off days to make the campaign of the IT firm successful.
The team of Infosys distributed relief materials in phase-wise manner and the process is still continuing, read a release of the company. "Since Last two months the volunteers are working hard to make the lives of the villagers comfortable. Relief materials like dry grocery items and clothes were distributed in 32 villages, to more than 11,000 families. The distribution started from May 12 and is still on," it added.
It further said that 2,000 tarpaulins and around 4,500 solar torch were distributed to more than 12,000 persons in the district. Besides, to facilitate villagers to cut down the uprooted trees in the cyclone the company reportedly deployed 50 tree cutting machines.
Besides, the IT firm has reportedly contributed Rs 85 lakh (approx) towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for Fani victims.
