Bhubaneswar: Attention government job seekers in Odisha! The Odisha circle of India Post will soon come out with vacancies at various levels numbering over a thousand.
While vacancies at the level of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant are 574, a total of 178 vacancies have been reported at the level of postman/ mail guard. At the level of MTS (Multi Tasking Staff), the vacancies reported stood at 306. And around 9 vacancies have been reported at the level of Inspector of Posts/Asst. Superintendent. The total vacancies in Odisha circle now reported at 1,067.
Top sources at the CPMG office here informed that a first lot of vacancies totalling over 530 will be notified soon. The recruitment notice for the posts of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, postman/mail guard and MTS will be notified in a month or two.
As per the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix, a Postal/Sorting Assistant will receive a remuneration of Rs 25,500/month. Post selected as Postman or Mail Guard, one will draw a salary of Rs 21,700. On selected as MTS in India Post, the starting salary one would draw will be Rs 18,000/month.
What is required? The minimum education qualification required for Postal/Sorting Assistant, Postman/Mail guard is 12th pass. And for the MTS, it is 10th or ITI pass.
Age limit: For Postal/Sorting Assistant, the aspirant should be above 18 years but below 27 years. And for MTS, it is 18-25 years.
However, all aspirants have to appear for an open competitive exam conducted by the Odisha Circle of India Post. The exam will have two papers. While the Paper - I consists of four sections carrying a total of 100 marks (objective), the Paper-II will be an exercise to assess the computer/typing skill and will be conducted on computer.
The four sections of Paper - I are: Section - I is General Knowledge - 25 multiple choice questions (MCQ) carrying 1 mark each. The questions will be asked from History (Ancient, Medieval, Modern India), Polity (especially on Parliament and Constitution), Geography (Physical, Environment and Human) and current affairs.
The Section - II consists of English Language. This section basically test the general English language skills. The focus will be on common errors like subject-verb agreement, preposition etc and synonyms/antonyms, phrases, idioms et al. This is also a MCQ type carrying 25 marks
The third section is on Mathematical Ability having MCQ carrying 25 marks. The questions will come from 10th standard CBSE maths. And most questions will be from Profit/loss, Compound/Simple Interest, Time and Clock, simple calculations etc.
The fourth section consist of Reasoning and Analytical Ability. The section will have MCQs carrying a total of 25 marks. Questions were asked on topics like number series, age, blood relation, correct match word etc.
