Bhubaneswar: An unidentified imposter has created a fake facebook profile misusing the name of IPS officer Sarah Sharma, currently posted as Sambalpur Division Vigilance SP.
The matter came to the fore after Sharma herself informed the matter through a post in her real Facebook account.
Sharma posted the link of the fake ID on her Facebook account and requested social media users not to accept friends request from the fake profile created in her name. She also cautioned people not to give any money, if asked through the account.
"A fake Facebook account has been created in my name ..Please don't accept any friend request from this account and do not give any money if asked for...Please report that it is a fake profile to facebook," read the post of Sharma.
However, the link of the fake profile posted by Sharma is unavailable now, said reports.
Sharma was earlier posted as Gajapati SP and later transferred to the Vigilance Directorate in July last year.
Instances of miscreants opening fake Facebook IDs of prominent citizens had surfaced in Odisha several times in the past.
Prior to this, fraudsters had created a fake Facebook profile of DIG (Intelligence) Anup Kumar Sahoo and sent friend requests to several people.
