Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the much-awaited Republic Day parade, the cadets of Odisha Remount and Veterinary (R and V) Squadron, one of the most illustrious NCC horse squadrons in the country, are now toiling hard on the ground. The horse squadron cadets have set a target to emerge champion in all events. Be it single vertical, parallel jump or triple bar, the equestrian cadets are now sweating it out and training their horses to give the best.
The cadets and all the 15 horses of the unit will be at the R-Day celebrations to display their skills and mastery in horsemanship. “Initially I was quite nervous and got hurt several times. Now I am confident and have improved a lot,” said cadet (under officer), Pratyush Kumar Nanda.
“Horse riding makes an individual brave, disciplined and more than an ordinary person,” said cadet (under officer), Rishika Raje Das.
“There are usually ups and downs in life and cadets are taught the trends in several equestrian events so that they participate in national and international championships,” said Lt. Colonel Alok Kumar Palai
Odisha Remount and Veterinary (R and V) Squadron is the only horse unit from the State which was commissioned way back in 1966. Several school and college students are honing their equestrian skills at the centre.
