Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Tuesday issued an advisory regarding the new parking restrictions which will be imposed on prominent junctions in Bhubaneswar.
As per the notification, any kind of parking violation will be dealt with strictly and violators will have to pay fine along with towing charges for parking vehicles illegally on congested roads. The Commissionerate Police has advised motorists to park their vehicles in the designated parking lots and identified spaces and ensure that main carriageway is not blocked.
In the first phase, the new guidelines will be strictly enforced on prominent areas like Rajbhawan Chhak to Kalarahanga Chhak, Airport to NALCO Chhak, Sishu Bhawan Chhak to Vani Vihar, Rasulgarh Chhak to Jaydev Vihar, Sriya Chhak to PHD office and Bapuji Nagar.
“Violation of the instant order is an offence and punishable under section 177 of MV Act-2019 and compoundable with a fine of Rs 500. Violation of the above order will also attract section 127 of the MV Act 2019 which authorises a police officer having jurisdiction to tow a vehicle causing impediment to the flow of traffic. When such a vehicle is towed, the owner shall be responsible for all towing costs, besides any other penalty,” the traffic advisory read.
The latest order has been issued by Commissionerate Police by virtue of powers conferred under section 28 and 29 of Odisha Urban Police Act-2003 (Odisha Act 8 of 2007) read with regulation 19-21 of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public order) Regulation, 2008 to regulate parking and ensure free flow of vehicular traffic.
Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath said the parking restriction has been clamped to ensure that there is no traffic congestion and we have selected six major junctions in Bhubaneswar in the first phase. The new restriction on parking has come to effect from today, she added.
