Huge Cache Of Single Use Plastics Seized In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking development, banned Single Use Plastic (SUP) items worth Rs 15 lakh were seized by the special squad of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) from a house at Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar today.

As per reports, the SUP items were stocked in that house for supply to local shops and other commercial establishments. After getting information from the BMC officials, the Pollution Control Board conducted a spot survey and confirmed that the seized items have been banned for use.

The plastic items were reportedly sourced from Gujarat and Kolkata.

SUPs have been banned in Odisha since October 2 and such seizure raises questions over the enforcement of the ban.
