Rourkela: A major mishap was averted because of alert railway officials when they noticed a malfunction in one of the coaches of the Howrah-Ahmedabad Superfast Express at Rourkela Railway Station on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, Howrah-Ahmedabad 12834 Up Superfast Express left Howrah junction at 11:55 PM last night and reached Rourkela this morning at around 6:30 AM. However, during a routine check at Rourkela, technicians noticed a malfunctioning part on the S-4 coach of the train and immediately informed the senior officials, who decided to halt the train for repair.

Sources said, the repair work continued for more than two hours during which the passengers got agitated and questioned the efficiency of Railway officials for not figuring out the malfunction during earlier checks at previous stations. Passengers complained that although the train halted at two major junctions in Kharagpur and Tata Nagar, why the snag was not detected earlier.

Later the train was allowed to leave Rourkela following repairs after a delay of around 2 hours.
