Bhubaneswar: In a bid to make the world better accessible for the persons with disabilities, special camp courts will be organised in rural parts of Odisha to hear the grievances of people in the post COVID-19 era.
To begin with, the department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability (SSEPD) will hold such camp courts in the Swabhimal Anchal of Malkangiri district.
Informing the development, State Commissioner for Person with Disabilities in Odisha Sulochana Das on Thursday said, “We are going to organise camp courts in Swabhimal Anchal so that justice is delivered at the door steps of people with disability in the area.”
December 3 is observed as World Disabled Day every year to acknowledge the issues faced by persons with disabilities (PwD) around the world.
This year the theme for IDPwD 2020 is "Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 World". Hence, all possible measures are being taken to see that persons with disability do not face problems in getting their grievances redressed, said Das.
“There are several schemes for persons with disability. We will try our best to ensure that no person is left out of benefits of such welfare schemes of the State government,” Das added.
Senior government officials informed that the special camp courts will be held in Swabhiman Anchal for a period of three days from December 15.
Awareness campaigns will be intensified and the camp courts will be held with assistance from Malkangiri Collector, SP and other government officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier the department was conducting such camp courts at district headquarters level. Now such camp courts will be organised in rural pockets of the State.
