Rourkela: Barely two months after 22 coaches of Ahmedabad-Puri Express rolled down for over 15 kms without engine near Titlagarh station, as many as 10 bogies of a goods train today got detached from the engine near Birajapali STI level crossing soon after departing from Rourkela Railway Station.

However, no losses have been reported.

As per reports, the bogies of the goods train got separated after a few kms from the Rourkela Railway Station.

The train driver realised it only after observing a sudden increase in the speed of the train and brought the train to a halt. By the time the train stopped, the engine carrying 18 other bogies had already covered two kms, informed sources.

With the help of other railway staff, the bogies were then reattached to the engine.

Meanwhile, train services on the track were halted for about 30 minutes due to the incident.

Surprisingly, in January last year, the bogies of Bhubaneswar-Anand Vihar Super Fast Express got detached from the moving engine at the same place- Birajapali.

In a similar incident that occurred in April 2017, a major tragedy was averted after five bogies of a goods train got detached from the engine near Bahanga station in Balasore district.
