Sambalpur: Union minister Giriraj Singh on Saturday sparked a fresh controversy while addressing a public gathering in Odisha by questioning if our Hindu brothers & sisters in Pakistan were impotent & infertile that it led to a drastic fall in their population in the neighbouring country.
Addressing BJP’s Jan Jagran Abhiyan in Sambalpur district which aims to create awareness about Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Singh lashed out heavily at Pakistan for the decline in the population of the minority communities.
The Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries minister alleged that minorities were 22 per cent of the population in Pakistan during partition and it has now reduced to 1 percent.
He questioned whether the men from Hindu, Sikh, Parsi and Christian communities were impotent or the women infertile that their population declined so drastically.
He further said the number reduced due to the torture meted out to the minority communities in Pakistan. Women and girls were subjected to inhumane torture and killed there, Singh added.
“As the Modi government has implemented CAA, now the minority communities from Pakistan will get safe shelter in India,” he added.
The Union minister also asked the Congress and those opposing the CAA whether Rohingyas and Pakistani infiltrators should get Indian citizenship and not the Hindu and Sikh refugees from the neighbouring country.
"I would like to ask the Congress and the tukde tukde gang whether Rohingyas, Pakistani infiltrators should be given citizenship? And should Hindu and Sikh refugees from Pakistan be denied citizenship? If they have courage, they should answer in yes or no," Singh said.
