Ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore seized in Koraput

Koraput: The Machhkund police here on Sunday seized a huge cache of ganja which was illegally being smuggled outside the State in a truck.

The seized ganja weighed about 3 quintal and is estimated to be around Rs 1.5 crore, informed an official of Machhkund PS.

Acting on a tipoff, the Machhkund police officials intercepted the truck transporting the banned contraband at Lamtaput and seized the ganja-loaded truk.

However, the driver of the truck reportedly managed to flee the spot.

Earlier on September 4, a flying squad of excise department had raided a house at Naupur village under Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district and seized ganja worth Rs 10 lakh.
