The police said that Abdul Rashid Khan was active member of the Hyder gang and was considered to be the right hand man of Hyder`s on Munna. A search party acting on tip off today morning tried to waylaid Abdul at Narayanpur under Derabish area. The police had to open fire as Abdul instead of halting fired at the search party to make good his escape. Abdul has been injured in hius right leg in the encounter. The police too nabbed an accomplice of Abdul named Sheikh Latif.
The police said that Abdul was history-sheeter and was deeply involved with Nunna, son of gangster Hyder. Abdul was involved in the theft of a vehicle from Baripada and the killing of the driver of the vehicle. While he was involved in the murder of a businessman. Abdul too was involved in a bombing incident at Oldihi under Derabish police limits. He too was engaged in extortion and ransom extraction.
The father and son duo of Hyder and Munna are presently in the jail. Police said that it was Abdul who was running the gang in the abscence of Hyder and Munna.
