Kendrapara: As a gesture of love and gratitude for Bollywood actor, Sonu Sood, who helped around 170 girls stranded in Kerala return to Odisha, a social organisation launched a postcard drive today.
As part of the drive, 11,000 postcards with 'Thank You' will be sent to Sonu Sood who has been tirelessly helping stranded migrants across the country to return to their homes.
The drive began today from Kendrapara collectorate with the district collector, Samarth Verma signing the first postcard for the actor. The postcards will be later sent on the home address of the actor.
With the help of the ‘Simmba’ actor, 170 girls stuck in Ernakulam of Kerala amid the Coronavirus lockdown were able to return to Odisha. After coming to know about the stranded girls, Sood had immediately arranged a special aircraft to facilitate their safe return. The girls, most of whom hail from Kendrapara, were engaged as stitching and embroidery workers at a local textile factory in Kerala.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, BJP Vice-President Baijayant Panda and several others had expressed their gratitude to Sonu Sood for his selfless act.
"Thank Bollywood actor @SonuSood for coming forward to help #Odisha girls, stranded in Kerala during nationwide #COVID19 lockdown, to reach home safe. His humanitarian gesture is indeed commendable," CM Naveen had tweeted.
Appreciating the actor's help, Baijayant Panda wrote, “What a relief! Appreciate the promptness of Sonu Sood Ji in bringing them back. Odisha will always remember your generosity. Jay Panda is glad the girls are back home safely, that too after 2 years of venturing out in search of livelihood & better life.”
Sonu Sood has been helping thousands of migrant workers get back to their home amid COVID19 lockdown. The 'Dabangg' actor calls migrants his own family and brothers and says it's his duty to help them.
