Angul: Four persons, including three occupants of an ambulance, were killed and six injured in a road accident in Angul district, police said on Sunday.

The conductor of a bus was crushed to death by a coal-laden truck when it hit the stationary bus from the rear near Amantapur under Jarapada police station in NH-55 on Saturday.

The bus was stranded on the roadside after one of its tyres punctured and the conductor and helper were busy in replacing the tyre when the truck rammed against the bus.

The victim was identified as Aswini Kumar Mohanty (50) of Barsingha under Jajpur district died on the spot while three others in the bus were injured. Even as both the vehicles remained stranded on the highway, an ambulance carrying six persons rammed against the truck from behind killing three of its occupants.

Four seriously injured were shifted to SCB Medical Hospital at Cuttack while the rest were being treated at the district headquarters hospital here.
