Four injured in group clash during wedding procession

Sambalpur: Palpable tension prevailed in Patrapali area under Deogarh municipality in Sambalpur district last night after a clash broke out between members of a marriage procession and the locals. At least four persons of both groups have been injured in the incident.

As per reports, a marriage procession from Talapali village was heading towards Patrapali, when a group of villagers opposed their activities during procession revelry. Following this, a clash ensued between the members of the procession and the locals.

Sources said a few members including the groom were also detained by the locals. Getting information, police reached the spot and rescued the groom and his kin from their clutches. The injured were later admitted to the Patrapali Government hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, sources claimed police have detained 12 persons after registering cases against them in connection with the incident.
