Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Secretary of Odisha Lalat Indu Parija passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack today morning. He was 89.

Family sources said he breathed his last following old-age illness. Son of eminent scientist, Pranakrushna Parija, Lalat Indu served as the Chief Secretary of Odisha twice in 1983 for one month and also in 1986 for a period of one year.

He also had a stint as the Chairman of then Orissa Public Service Commission and five-year spell as Deputy General Manager of Rourkela Steel Plant.

Lalat Indu, also a former captain of Odisha Ranji Team and first rate bridge player had recently released his book Fate takes a Hand in March 2019.

Son of Lalat Indu informed that his last rites will be performed at Khannagar in Cuttack.
