Bhubaneswar: The first Promotion Adalat hearing was conducted today with 2,273 employees voicing their promotion-related grievances. Odisha government has reportedly received 9000 applications from employees of various departments for hearing of their promotion-related matter at the adalat, which will conduct its hearing in several phases.
Following the direction from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the administration had decided to hold Promotion Adalats on January 28, 29 and 31 at six different places in Bhubaneswar. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and Additional Chief Secretaries of various administrative departments presided over the adalats on Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy today heard the grievances of employees of the Revenue & Disaster Management and the Planning & Convergence departments.
During the hearing, irregularities in promotions were alleged by the government employees. Biranchi Narayan Acharya, who works at Cuttack Board of Revenue, as Data Entry Operator had reportedly applied for promotion in 2016 after he was regularized in 2013. However, he alleged that due to some differences with the senior official, he has not got promotion.
"Some officers are intentionally not promoting employees out of personal vendetta and vested interests. Even though my name was earlier recommended for promotion, I am yet to get promoted," alleged Acharya.
Another State government employee, Sandeep Sudarshan Dhala said, "I have not got promotion in the last seven years. I think bribery in promotion is the main reason due to which I am not getting promoted."
Action will be taken against the officials against whom employees have brought corruption charges, said Chopra adding, "The employees should bring such cases to the notice of the government."
