Subarnapur/ Bhadrak: Over 300 rooms of at least100 families were gutted in two separate fire mishaps in Subarnapur and Bhadrak district on Saturday.

The fire broke out in Biramaharajpur area in Subarnapur district on Saturday noon rendering 70 families homeless. At least 150 houses including the basic commodities like rice, clothes and furniture were reduced to ashes.

The flame was so strong that within a few minutes it engulfed the whole area and turned everything into cinder. Fire fighters of Biramaharajpur and Sonepur tried hard to contain the blaze.

Biramaharajpur sub collector, BDO with other administrative officials rushed to the spot and take stock of the situation. The officials estimated the loss and have arranged relief for the victims.

In a similar incident, Gopalpur village under Thidi block in Bhadrak district also witnessed a same tragedy in which 150 houses of 31 families were gutted.

According to reports the fire broke out from a dumping yard and spread quickly to other areas before the fire brigade team arrived. The bad connectivity of roads delayed the team in reaching the spot a little earlier, villagers said.
